Fisher-Price Dune Racer
I would have loved a toy like this when I was a child. I had to make do instead with an old bicycle wheel, a stick to drive the wheel, and boundless energy to run after the wheel as it sped away from me on a bend. This toy however is for the kids of this new generation in 2011. The Power Wheels Dune Racer from Fisher-Price will suit any boy or girl aged from about 4 and upwards. Mind you, the Mom and Pop will have to do all the battery maintenance and charging.
Power Wheels Monster Traction
This toy does not get stuck because of the rugged tires it uses. They are big and sturdy to suit this racer which can fit two kids comfortably. It can move along nicely at 5mph going straight forward and at half that speed when reversing. For kids starting off the forward speed can be set to 2.5 mph which can seem fast to nervous children. They soon get used to it however and are zooming about the place in no time at all.
Power Wheels 12-Volt Rechargeable Battery
The Fisher-Price powered Dune Racer is driven by a battery. The 12-volt battery is included in the initial purchase but many parents buy an addition battery to have charging on standby. This will maximize the play time, especially if this is a shared Power Wheels racer. Do make sure that whatever model you buy that the battery type is understood by you. A little homework is advised in cases where more than one racer is involved. They will all need to be the same (i.e. 12V battery system only). To avoid disappointment, please read the safety instruction booklet too, as it contains important information on the internal, self-resetting fuse.
Dune Racer from Power Wheels
The Power Wheels Racer’s best feature is the bigger stronger tires for rough terrain. The vehicle can carry two kids easily over uneven ground. Children should be supervised at all times when using this vehicle or any of the other Fisher-Price models in the Power Wheels series. Most of the frames are the same but small different features distinguish them apart. The most obvious is the color, of course. The standard items are a sturdy metal frame with side safety bars, steering wheel, shifter (gas pedal) and the seat belts. Minor items, which vary from model to model, are the small storage compartment in front, alloy wheels and decorative or metal fenders (bumpers).

Assembly time
It takes perhaps 40 minutes to put this together by following the instructions (especially about the placement of the stickers) and is moderately easy to assemble. The racer can carry well over 100lbs, with the maximum weight nearer to 150lbs, so there is no need to worry on that score. These are quality toys and I recommend getting a spare battery for them, as well as a premium charger which shows the battery charge status (with small indicator lights). This is a powerful toy, with very good traction, as indicated by the Dune Racer name and is a good buy from the excellent Fisher-Price range.
