Wii Sports Resort

When the Wii was launched in 2006 the title that was launched with it, was Wii Sports. It came with every Wii sold as did Super Mario Bros., for the original Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985.
Wii Sports was the perfect title to be released with the console as it showed exactly what it was all about, a totally new system of controlling game-play using motion sensing technology. Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk you are able to simulate various sports such as Bowling, Baseball and Boxing by using the same motions that you would with the real sport.

The Wii was seen very positively by families as it requires a certain amount of physical activity and exercise that video games had always been seen to get in the way of.

Wii Sports is the sequel of the original and follows in the same theme with new sports. The game is set in a resort in a fictional island called Wuhu Island that had previously been in the Wii Fit game. The game has two games that were in the original, Golf and Bowling, but with new variations and it also has ten new sports, also.

The new Sports that are featured are, Frisbee, Air Sports, Canoeing, Cycling, Archery, Wakeboarding, Power Cruising, Table Tennis, Basketball and Swordplay. Another new addition to this game is that it utilizes the new Motion Plus technology.

The release of Wii Sports Resort can be seen as a platform for showing the uses of the new Motion Plus. Motion Plus is a new devise that is attached to the Wii Remote, it increases the motion sensitive capabilities of the remote. Examples of this are, by twisting or turning the remote when you are about to hit a table Tennis ball or the Bowling ball you will put spin on your shot, therefore changing the path of the ball. This is useful in Bowling for getting around obstacles in one of the games and it has many other uses also and gives the game a more realistic feel to it.

The Motion Plus accessory can be purchased in a Bundle with Wii Sports Resort or can be purchased separately.
